Benefits of Emotional Intelligence
"Intelligence isn't knowing everything. It's the ability to challenge everything you know." -J. Freedman
The concept of Emotional Intelligence became popular after the enormous success of Daniel Goleman’s book “Emotional Intelligence, Why It Can Matter More Than IQ” and “Working With Emotional Intelligence” published in the late 1990s. His extensive research proved that 90% of one’s performance effectiveness was determined by emotional intelligence rather than intellectual or technical knowledge.
The Harvard Business Review chose his article “What Makes A Leader” as one of the ten “must-read” articles from its pages. Inspirational leadership that gets results demands a triple focus on ourselves, on others, for our relationships and on the outer forces that shape organisations and society.
We are emotional beings who form social and professional relationships in our daily interactions with others. When corporate leaders implement the core principles of emotional and social intelligence and encourage honest communication and emotional expression, the result is a more connected and highly productive, resilient workplace with a positive work culture. And this will have a positive flow on effect on your profits too.
Mutual respect, loyalty, connectivity combined with emotional self-awareness reduces human misunderstandings and unnecessary work conflict. The latest research also found that EI improves optimum problem-solving and decision- making skills, reduces procrastination and fosters greater work satisfaction. EI develops more with age, maturity and life experience and is essential to your success in the workplace.

Can you feel it?
THE EMOTIONAL CONTAGION
"Emotions are energy in motion."
They are the unseen “vibes” we sense and physically and emotionally pick up when we interact and communicate with other people. Have you ever entered a meeting room where you could cut the air with a knife? Although you didn’t witness the actual confrontation or argument that took place, the charged atmosphere and residual negative “energy bubble” was still palpable and lingering. You are literally in the vortex of the “Emotional Contagion” feeling triggered into feeling certain emotions because you are around someone in a certain mood or emotional state - this is “Energy in Motion”. If ignored over time, it has the potential to undermine and erode human relationships, stifle open communication, create conflict and disengagement.
When leaders communicate and manage their teams with 100 % executive presence and authenticity, they create powerful, tangible change and a loyal, highly motivated and engaged workforce. Broadening your “Emotional Vocabulary” will deepen your understanding of a diverse range of emotions and make you a more empathetic and compassionate leader. Leading with Emotional Intelligence creates a more humane workplace and emotionally intelligent organisation.
Over the last decade, many executives and employees have been experiencing increased levels of stress and performance pressure in the workplace. The global pandemic has played havoc around the world, companies are forced to downsize, restructure and create a new mobile “hybrid” workforce. Those working in distributed and hybrid arrangements must work harder on the emotional side of professional relationships, looking at ways to replace bonds and personal ties normally created near the water cooler or hallway conversations. The “new normal” workplace can compromise employees' mental, emotional and physical performance and how they interact and communicate with others.
We live in a rapidly changing and unpredictable world which requires a new level of mental and emotional resilience factor, the ability to implement necessary changes fast, diplomatic “soft” / “people skills” and a calm focused mind for making the right decisions under pressure.
Emotional Intelligence Coaching and online courses give you the competitive edge to become a more conscious and extraordinary leader who brings out the best in your people.

What people have to say about working with Katha...
Vince Costa
Founder, Redmackerel Media, India
"One tool I utilise on a continuous basis is the feedback model. My training in the past has prepared me to present negative feedback, but this new tool is especially effective in providing positive feedback. The results in my company have been outstanding! My team is more cohesive, creative and dedicated to a common goal. This morning at our weekly meeting the compliments came unsolicited from a variety of sources and the work environment and morale is more upbeat and definitely more productive."
Wolfgant Ebner
CEO, Das Vindobona, Europe
"I want to reiterate what a profound impact the SEIP audit report and tailored development strategy across 26 competencies had on my leadership skills and overall performance. Managing and training a multi-cultural team of 41 staff can create many difficult and emotionally charged situations caused by human misunderstandings under stress and performance pressure. Katha Jones is a dynamic leadership coach who helped me improve my “cultural intelligence” and how to diffuse the “emotional contagion” that creates disharmony and poor performance. We now have a more resilient, flexible and productive team and our client base and profits have also increased substantially."
